"...The adventures of Timur and his Gang took place in 1929 when the Japanese attacked the Soviet Far Eastern Red Army on the Manchurian frontier. The heroic deeds of the victorious Red Army men and their Commanders at Lake Hassan had thrilled the whole country, and the children imagined themselves to be in the thick of the fight.
In all their games they outwitted and defeated the enemy, but they also took upon themselves the responsibility of caring for the families of the Red Army men who had gone to the front and they all did their daily good deed.
Timur and his friend Genya are typical modern Soviet school children. They are Pioneers-members of the Communist Children's Organization-and their motto is 'Always Ready'. As Pioneers they must always set an example to children and grown-ups alike. Their exciting adventures got them into lots of scrapes, but they always came out on top. You'll like Timur, Sima, Kolya, Genya and all the other members of their group...."
