Author: P C Wren
Wren, Percival Christopher
English Novelist. He was born in Devon and educated it Oxford.
He then travelled the world, working as a schoolmaster, journalist, explorer and farm hand, serving in a British cavalry regiment and the French Foreign Legion, and living in India.
During World War I he was an officer with the Indian forces in East Africa.
From these varied experiences he drew inspiration for his many popular novels of romance and adventure, which reflect his believe in the values of the British Empire.
He has single-handedly created the British mythology of the French Foreign Legion. Certainly no one before or since has written more vividly of the romance of the desert or of the strange, brave tribe of European men who volunteered to fight and, if necessary, die in it.
His most famous book is Beau Geste.
